In the foothills of the Blue Ridge
Gee, 20 years ago in the north Georgia Mountains (left). 10 years in the SF Bay
Area, 2 years in the fridge north 2 miles from the Wisconsin border in Illinois. Here we are about 45 miles from Washington D.C.
we now live in a small town of 3,000 called Purcellville.
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge we can really feel a sense of history
all around us. There are homes here that predate the USA's independence.
Stone walls stacked one stone at a time so to terrace the land for farming.
This is a very beautiful part of the country. Lots of apple orchards and fields of corn and soy. Still
many rolling green hills.
Strange driving to the next town (not city!) to get food and other staples of life. There are local stores like the
hardware store, but it's a lot like Mr. Druckers store in Green Acers. There are a few Mr. Hanies around too. Just like
anywhere else we have our share of Yuppies. Leaving their flags out all night with no light placed on it. Not bringing the
flag in when it rains (see UNITED STATES CODE.. TITLE 36, CHAPTER 10, §176-§182). Their trying to show some Patriotism, although they know not what that is. Driving Jags and BIG SUV's
make American patriots, mmmmmmm... something wrong with that picture. Sorry, should save this for my
rant page.
Anyway we're a far cry from the busy dog eat dog ( eat cat too ) of the bay area. Right is a photo of us by the court house
for the city of Mountain View, CA., guess we we're around 44 in this photo. I have many slide shows that show us with friends and places
we've been. I will try to get them up ASAP on the this and that page.
